Interventions to the French authorities regarding French protectionist legislation to Romanian transport companies

Following our letter No. 909/13.03.2015, the National Union of Road Hauliers from Romania (UNTRR) organizes today, 18.03.2015 a protest action against the neoprotectionist measures undertaken recently by your country – huge fines for spending weekly rest in the truck, targeting foreign/Eastern drivers more than French drivers who normally spend their weekly rest home and recently a French minimum wage to be applied to Romanian road transport companies accused of “social dumping”, although this allegation is misused as it is not about an unfair practice but about a consequence of different living and social standards within EU. The French government has enforced new national regulations that might inflame the vandalism acts within the European road transport

UNTRR requires the Romanian and European authorities to urgently take measures to determine French and Belgian authorities to immediately withdraw their recent national regulations on the introduction of severe fines and penalties applicable in case drivers spend their weekly rest period in vehicles. UNTRR addresses the Romanian government and the European Commission for emergency measures for the immediate withdrawal of the new anti-European and anti-competitive regulations recently introduced by France and Belgium, regarding the severe fines and penalties applicable in case drivers spend their weekly rest period in vehicles.
