Protest in Poland

Carriers protest in Poland

About a thousand of trucks participate nationwide in the road transport carriers protest. Carriers decided to go on roads because they were no longer able to tolerate the helplessness of the government towards increasing problems which eliminate them from the European market. The imposed German legislation on minimum wages, the Russian administrative actions aimed against the Polish transport, the worsening Polish legislation and lack of actions from the government are harmful to the interests of international road transport carriers.

UNTRR’s actions against the application of the minimum wage in Germany

The National Union of Road Hauliers from Romania – UNTRR- made numerous interventions to Romanian, German and European authorities, and to the relevant national and international institutions:

– requesting clarification on the enforcement of the minimum wage law in Germany to foreign carriers (Romanians);

– calling for urgent action to avoid penalizing abusively the Romanian road transport operators by the German authorities as of 1st January 2015, due to non-apllication of the German minimum wage law;

– indicating the seriousness of the recent measures taken by Germany, which affect the freedom of services in the European market and warning that the enforcement of such measures pushes Europe on a path of neoprotectionism which ultimately will affect its overall competitiveness over other global competitors. Interventions to the French authorities regarding French protectionist legislation to Romanian transport companies

Following our letter No. 909/13.03.2015, the National Union of Road Hauliers from Romania (UNTRR) organizes today, 18.03.2015 a protest action against the neoprotectionist measures undertaken recently by your country – huge fines for spending weekly rest in the truck, targeting foreign/Eastern drivers more than French drivers who normally spend their weekly rest home and recently a French minimum wage to be applied to Romanian road transport companies accused of “social dumping”, although this allegation is misused as it is not about an unfair practice but about a consequence of different living and social standards within EU.
